On 15th of August 1947, India got freedom from British rule. British ruled India from 1858 to 1947. Since 1947, 15th of August is celebrated as Independence Day. Independence is a national holiday and is celebrated with passion across the nation. Jana Gana Mana, the national anthem of India, is sung and flags are hosted.
